How to Optimize Ordering Inventory

This article will help guide you on how best to configure your ordering utilizing the “Quantity to Order” work mode of OnePageInventory.

Navigate to the Quantity to Order Workmode:

Manufacture Lead Times and Warehouse Inventory Levels

  • Select the products you would like to update from the left hand column.
  • For ALL SKUs, check the “Toggle All” button 
  • Then clickEdit” under the “Manufacture Lead Time” or “Quantity Required” column, which will pop up a new window pane on the right hand side of your navigation 
  • Set the “Manufacturer Lead Time” in days
  • Set the “Warehouse days required” for desired in-stock levels

Sales Projections (Sales Velocity or Seasonal Forecast)

  • Select your products from the left hand column
  • For ALL SKUs, check the “Toggle All” button 
  • Click the “edit” button under the “Sales Projection” column
  • Choose recent “sales velocity” or “seasonal forecast” for each channel
  • Select the relevant channels / marketplaces under “Sales channels”
  • Click “Save” to update your changes

OPI aggregates inventory levels from your Warehouses and any inventory quantities reported from your Shopify and Walmart integrations. To ensure accurate reconciling of your inventory we offer custom configuration. For example: If you use a Warehouse in OPI to manage your inventory levels, and Shopify also reports your inventory totals, you will want to ensure those levels aren’t duplicated.

Update In-Stock Inventory

  • Select your products from the left hand column
  • For ALL SKUs, check the “Toggle All” button 
  • Click the “Configure Formula” button
  • Check/Uncheck the “In Stock” box under Warehouse, Shopify and Walmart column to include / exclude stock from calculation
  • Click “Save” to record the changes

Configure Sales Projection

  • Select your products from the left hand column.
  • For ALL SKUs, check the “Toggle All” button. 
  • Click the “Configure Formula” button
  • Toggle On/Off “Sales Projection” for each Sales Channel / Marketplace to include / exclude projections from calculation.

View Calculation Details

  • Hover over “Qty to Order” Column, next to each product SKU.
  • The Pop-Up displays the FBA, FBM, Shopify and Walmart requirement
  • Click to view the Product Stock Requirement under each sales channel for further details.
  • Click “Days Needed” for your configured lead times
  • Click “Projected Sales” for details by market
  • Hover over the “?” question mark for sales projections utilizing Sales Velocity / Seasonal Forecast

Based on the settings, the system calculates estimated sales and inventory needs over the lead time plus buffer stock period for each channel.

This projected demand, combined with current inventory levels, determines optimal reorder quantities to maintain service levels without overstocking.

Proper configuration ensures you have the right inventory in the right places at the right times.
